May 14, 2014 DAR Meeting

The Brunswick Town Daughters of the American Revolution held the May 14th meeting/luncheon  at the Cape Fear Country Club, 1518 Country Club Road, Wilmington, NC at 10:00 AM. Brenda Harriss presents a program on Monarch Butterflies and Conservation. Ms. Harriss  invited us to visit her Monarch Butterfly garden after lunch. The North Carolina Society Daughters of the American Revolution,  held the One Hundred Fourteenth State Conference Program "From the Mountains to the Sea: Celebrating Our Rich North Carolina History" on May 1-4, 2014. The event was held at The Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center in Durham North Carolina.

Each chapter provided one square. It has not
been displayed in many
 years, and we are fortunate enough to have
 it displayed here at the 114th
 NCSDAR State Conference.

Memorial Day Ceremony 3pm on May 26th in Southport, NC

American Legion Memorial Day Ceremony
American LegionThe Richard H. Stewart, Jr. American Legion Post 543 will hold a Memorial Day wreath laying ceremony at 3pm on Monday, May 26 at the Veterans Memorial adjacent to the St. James Town Hall on Route 211. All local communities are invited to attend. Our guest speaker will be Mr. Ilario Pantano, Director of the North Carolina Division of Veterans Affairs. Colors will be presented by the Post 543 Honor Guard, a wreath will be placed at the Veterans Memorial and Taps will be played.

Seating will be provided for all attendees at the Veterans Memorial. Parking is limited and carpooling is strongly encouraged. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will take place inside the St James Community Center.
